Construction Q&A for members
Question: What can we expect next?
Answer: Monday, Aug. 9 - Removal of concrete south of 3rd Street. Temporary boardwalks and water service will follow concrete removals with temporary interruptions during this time. Underground utility work from 3rd Street to Highway 34 is tentatively scheduled to start about Aug. 9.
Question: What about access at the front of the building?
Answer: There will be access from the fronts of buildings the majority of the time. When there will be some temporary interruptions, they will be communicated and should last less than an hour.
Question: Are businesses responsible for their own plumbing contractor to hook up services?
Answer: There are circumstances where the contractor will not be able to connect services through the building. In these cases, it will be recommended the property owner contact a plumber. The need will be determined on a building by building basis. (This should be finished by Friday, Aug. 6.)
Question: What is the contractors’ work schedule?
Answer: Initially, work hours will be sun up to sundown five to six days a week.
Question: What about 2nd Street?
Answer: 2nd Street (between Main and 1st Avenue) will remain open this year.
Question: When will the landscaping and other amenities be finished?
Answer: The trees will be planted in the nodes next spring and the benches, waste containers and bike rides also will be placed next year.
Question: What if the contractor doesn’t finish this fall?
Answer: A temporary layer of bituminous will be installed on both the street and sidewalks.
Question: What about crossing Main?
Answer: A crossing will be provided; one for every 2 blocks.
