The original members of Blank Canvas Gallery, who opened their gallery on Main Street in Park Rapids in June 2010, are presenting a Reunion Art Show. The initial effort provided 20-plus artists an opportunity to exhibit in the Gallery. Subsequently, more than 80 additional artists were included during a successful five-year operation. Many of the artists remain in the community and are looking forward to working together again. While some artists have left the area, 21 artists will return for this event exhibiting a wide variety of local talent. Local arts organizer, supporter and catalyst for community arts, Bickey Bender, states that this unique opportunity coincides with the community progress on the redevelopment of Armory Square. “We would not even try this without the availability of Armory Square. The founding Blank Canvas members are enthusiastic for the opportunity.” The event will be held at The Armory Arts & Events Center.
The show will start with an artists reception open to the public at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 12. The show will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, August 13, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, August 14 and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, August 15. There will be artist demonstrations at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday. This event is supported by a gift from the Bella Sanders Estate to the Blank Canvas Arts Resource Center, a non-profit arts support organization, with support from Heartland Arts which serves as an umbrella organization for 16 arts and cultural organizations in the greater Park Rapids area.
