Businesses go all out to make shopping fun for Crazy Days in Downtown Park Rapids Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23. On Thursday free entertainment, street vendors and community organizations will add to the festivities as a bonus to bargains shoppers will find both days.
Enter or watch the Pet and Costume Parade at 9 a.m. as costumed owners, pets and others circle the first three blocks of Main Street. If you don’t have a pet, dress up as your favorite animal. Registration and line up will start at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth block of Main (between 4th and 5th Streets). Please make sure your pet is on a leash. There will be prize drawings for those who sign up.
The Park Rapids Downtown Business Association and Friends of the Library will sponsor Curtis Alan Hed’s Magic Show with a one-hour Close Up Magic pre show from 9:15 to 10:15 and a 45-minute Magic of Reading Show starting at 10:30 a.m. in Pioneer Park. The shows are free.
Big Show Entertainment will play musical hits on the main stage as background for much of the day. The five-member drum group, Smoke Stack, from Pine Point will play on the stage starting at 1 p.m. Please bring your own chairs for listening to the stage shows.
More kids entertainment is planned during the afternoon with a kids’ fishing booth and bean bag toss. Participants will receive crazy fun bags filled with Crayons and a coloring page, Miracle bubbles, miniature glow sticks, balloons and gift certificates while supplies last. Kids also will want to line up for the face painter.
In addition to the Park Rapids Downtown Business Association, this year’s sponsors are Arvig, Enbridge and Sanford Health.
The 2nd Street Stage beer garden will open at 5 p.m. with a social hour from 5 to 6 p.m. and the free concert featuring Rich Mattson and the Northstars from 6 to 8 p.m.
