Come learn about the annual harvest of manoomin (wild rice). Demonstrations of parching, jigging, fanning and cooking will complement presentations on Anishinaabe traditions and harvest methods, including tools. Gerald and Delina White, annual gatherers of manoomin from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, will answer questions and provide insight into the natural history of manoomin over the past 70 years. Join us to explore and learn in the great out of doors for this program between 10 a.m. and 3 np.m. Wednesday, September 21 at the Picnic Shelter and the Lake Itasca Amphitheater area in the picnic grounds.
