The Noon Hour Concert from 12:15 to 12:45 Thursday, August 12 at St. Johns Lutheran Church will feature vocalist Evan Byler and organist Sarah Carlson. Evan Byler graduated from Bemidji State University this spring in vocal music education. His love for singing was formed at home, at church and continued in college. Christ continues to be his inspiration for life in this unpredictable world. This fall he will complete the student teaching part of his degree in Brainerd. He enjoys being outdoors, composing music and playing fingerstyle guitar. Sarah Carlson received her Master of Music in organ performance from the University of Iowa and her Bachelor of Music from St. Olaf College. During the fall of 2009, she performed harpsichord keyboard concertos by J.S. Bach at Bemidji State University. Prior to coming to Bemidji, she was Director of Music at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Darlington, S.C. She was also an Adjunct Professor of Music at Coker College in Hartsville, S.C., accompanist for the Coker Singers and head of the Piano Division’s Preparatory School of Music. She is currently Director of Music Ministry at First Lutheran Church in Bemidji. Covid guidelines will be followed and there will be no social time.
