Science in Nature: Aquatic Invasive Species

June 07, 2022

Are you curious how nature functions? Uncover the mysteries of nature. Join scientists and researchers as we explore their discoveries in a program from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 7. This program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Itasca State Park.Today’s guest is Nichole Angell, a graduate student at the University of Minnesota’s Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center. Join researchers and fellow water lovers to find out how you can protect your local waterways. Explore aquatic invaders, their impacts and what you can do to stop their spread. How do you correctly inspect and remove aquatic invasive species from your boat after a typical outing on a lake? We will examine an infested boat to learn where nuisance aquatic invaders hide hitching a ride to uninfested water bodies. Meet at the University of Minnesota Itasca Biological Station (along Main Park Drive, watch for signs).
