Science in Nature: How Does Itasca’s Forest Change?

Are you curious how nature functions? Join scientists and researchers as we explore their discoveries for a program from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 1 at Forest Inn (across from Douglas Lodge). Join Dan Brumm, resident scientist for the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Laboratories, to learn more about how forests can change. Learn how forests respond to patterns in weather and climate, as well as disturbances like wind or fire events. This program will feature a short presentation on the forests of Itasca State Park and their relationship with fire as a natural disturbance. We will then walk to Preachers Grove from Forest Inn. This program is coordinated by the University of Minnesota’s Itasca Biological Station and Itasca State Park.
