Sculpture Trail opening & tour May 21

The City of Park Rapids and Park Rapids Arts and Culture Commission invite the public to the opening and tour of the Park Rapids Sculpture Trail at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21.

The event will start at Red Bridge Park, located at 175-199 Beach Road (east of US Hwy. 71/Park Avenue North, about a block north of the stoplights at the junction of Hwy. 71 and state Hwy. 34). The tour will end in Downtown Park Rapids.

Fourteen new sculptures are being installed and will remain in place for a year. The artists whose works are selected have been invited to provide information on their works as part of the tour.

After the tour, Downtown businesses invite you to stay for lunch, shop and enjoy live music. Starting at 1 p.m. Paul Albright then Ben Ranson will be playing at Bella Caffé and Kamree Carlson will be singing at Enjoy. Revel Brewing will host Scarlet Woods starting at 6 p.m. and Debbie Center and Doug Kuehn will entertain at 6:30 p.m. at Wine Not?

Artists whose works were accepted for this year’s Sculpture Trail are Paul Albright, Akeley; Al Bellevue, Puposky; Brian Berle, Shakopee; Tim Cassidy, New York Mills; Aidan Demarals, Janesville and Tim James, Good Thunder; Hubbard County DAC/Salvage Depot, Park Rapids; Jon Kamrath, Mahtomedi; Isaac Kidder, Minnetrista; Sunghee Min, Roseville; Tim Nelsen, Bemidji; James Pedersen, Walker and Ryan Pedersen, North Mankato; Jamie Weinfurter, Iowa City, IA; and Simon Zornes, Bagley.
